First of all, Happy new year to all of you! I wish you have great health, love, happiness throughout 2018 and thank you so much for your continuous support, all the new year wishes and gifts. I appreciate every single one of them.

As you may have noticed, I have taken a few days off from my blog (after the usual Christmas and new year holidays). I know it is very unlike me as I write here quite consistently. However, the break was necessary for so many reasons.

2017 has been a year of ups and downs. I usually stay all positive and the long-term readers will know that I have been someone to look on the bright side in any crisis. But life isn't always a painting of roses and I thought I'd share the ups and downs of 2017 with you all.

To get it done and dusted with all the challenges, last year has presented many challenges in my career. It has been the year I had the most amount of stress regarding work. Since I started Sachini, my luxury clothing line in 2016, I face the hurdles any startup business has to deal with. May it be with the production of clothing, staff issues, handling with retailers or just spreading myself too thin to tick all the boxes on my to-do lists. Behind the glamour of a luxury womenswear brand, there have been many sleepless nights, working weekends and canceled day-offs.

I also had to deal with some crisis at family level including illness of a family member and the passing of a very dear friend whom I had known for over 15 years.

However, I count my lucky stars when it comes to having such a supportive family to be with me through times of sadness and trouble. My husband has especially been my rock and a shoulder to lean on (quite literally) during the rough times.

2017 has also been a year of success as well. Both on personal and professional levels, there are many milestones I reached in the past year. I recall with absolute delight the holidays and trips we have taken on this year, my favorite one being the trip to the Maldives. I have also had the opportunity to work with many brands I love in 2017 as a result of my blog doing well (beyond my expectations). So I am so grateful for each and every one of you out there who is part of this success.

As far as Sachini goes, I am glad to have done the SS17 and AW17 lines for my clothing line and at the moment of writing this, I am working on the SS18 with a lot of excitement.

2017 also marks the year of establishing myself in United Kingdom and I can say after over a decade of going through the process of various different visas and applications, it is absolutely marvelous to feel officially at home in London and I crossed off one of the long-term goals from my list this year.

2018 is a year I want to look after myself. To do what I want to and love to do with more stability on the ground. It is also a year I want to explore new avenues when it comes to my career and to feel like I have spread my wings far in the skies!
